Urban Acupuncture as a strategy for Sustainable Urban Regeneration



With the continuous increase in the global population this work studies the theory of Urban Acupuncture as a strategy for the sustainable regeneration of the urban environment.



It seeks to expose the fundamental principles behind a the term,“Urban Acupuncture” coined by many architects, drawing comparisons between the medical and urban application with particular focus on two cities Barcelona, Spain, and Curitiba, Brazil studying the work of two architects in these cities, Manuel de Solà-Morales and Jaime Lerner respectively.
